Where It Started
It was 2010, and Congolese businessman, Jean Mopotu, wanted to build a legacy. Geared with a vast network of high-profile DRC business professionals, he founded the company as a business consultancy helping external companies enter the Congolese market.
It didn’t take long for Mr Mopotu to land his first major clients: African Union Holdings and Telcom. Both companies wanted to enter the DRC market, so Mr Mopotu assisted them as a business development strategist.
But Mr Mopotu’s ambition and expertise in the Congolese market led him to not only stretch his services but acquire the company’s first breakthrough project…
Exploring Possibilities
While working with African Union Holdings and Telcom, Mr Mopotu signed a deal with the DRC government to export number plates to South Africa for printing and import them back to the DRC.
Not long after, Jemeglo gained momentum. Other projects started filling Mr Mopotu’s diary, including supplying South African wine to statehouses in the DRC and purchasing vehicles in Dubai to sell in the DRC.
Apart from its name, history, and internal dynamics, the Jemeglo purpose is deeply rooted in the admiration of the DRC, its people, and the possibilities waiting to be unlocked.
